From Sue Suckling, the Chair of Callaghan Innovation Board

Happy New Year, I hope you have had time to relax with family and friends over the break.
On February 1st Callaghan Innovation becomes a legal entity in its own right and we move into the next stage of our development. We are well on-track for day one so I’d like to give you a short update on some of the key developments.
Board Appointments. As some of you will be aware the Minister of Science and Innovation, Hon Steven Joyce, has announced the membership of the new Callaghan Innovation Board. The members are:
- Sue Suckling (Chair)
- Dr Michele Allan
- Paul Lockey
- Dr Richard Janes
- Robin Hapi
- Craig Richardson
- Sir Peter Maire
- Professor Peter Hunter

Executive leadership. Murray Nash has agreed to be Acting Chief Executive for Callaghan Innovation from February 1st until our permanent chief executive is appointed and takes up the role. Murray was appointed to lead the Callaghan Innovation Establishment Unit in August 2012 and will lead an acting executive team that includes other staff from the Establishment Unit and staff moving over from IRL and MBIE.
The appointment process for the permanent CEO is progressing and an announcement is likely in the first quarter of 2013.
It is going to be a busy time for Callaghan Innovation over the coming months. After February 1st I will be in touch to inform you of our operating focus for the first six months and details of how to contact us and stay abreast of our progress.
Best wishes for 2013.
