Applications for funding in the 2013 investment round has now closed. We know that a lot of time and effort has gone into the applications, and thank those involved for their hard work.
Proposals will now undergo independent science peer review and then assessment, before decisions are announced in August.

Research funds we invest in
In the 2013 science investment round, we are investing in the following research funds:
The 2013 sandpit investment process will invest funds in the Environmental Research Fund using two sandpit processes.
No investment process will be held for the Hazards and Infrastructure Research Fund as no funds were available for investment in 2013.
Request for Proposals
We released Request for Proposals (RfP) for four research funds in early December 2012. The RfPs invited proposals for funding and set out the processes and provisions for the submission and assessment of proposals.
Proposals were due at noon on 3 April 2013 (for Biological Industries Research Fund) and at noon 4 April 2013 (for other research funds, except for the Environmental Research Fund). There is no provision for extensions to this deadline.
We did not release an RfP for the Environmental Research Fund as we will use another process to invest this funding.
Each of the research funds has a Sector Investment Plan (SIP) that sets out the priorities for investment.
Wanted: peer reviewers
